Chapter 82–“Voter Revolt”

Synopsis- Lupin’s going to rob 30 million from a politician after the man cheated it out of the public and sent assassins
after Lupin.

Review- Eh. A mildly amusing chapter, with exceptional artwork, action and plot twists all around. Plus, Lupin doing something
honorable again. I recommend it. 9/10

Chapter 83–“Dead in a Box”
Characters- Lupin, Fujiko, Sanbo, another guy, the other contestants, Jigen, Goemon
Synopsis- Thanks to his meddling, Lupin’s now part of a game in which “winner” and “survivor”
have the same meaning!

Review- And the game is on! The story is mostly serious fare (excluding the ending). Monkey Punch’s style is still
getting more refined as the series goes on, and the final joke is classic slapstick. 8.5/10

Chapter 84 –“The Lupin Who Loved Me”
Characters- Lupin, Cliff Finch, Fujiko, Zenigata
Synopsis- An agency’s lending their agents to Zenigata for Lupin’s capture.
Firsts-
Links to animated Lupin- Zenigata gets chased by a train in “Revenge of La Nerd” in series 2.
Review- It SHOULD be regulation, Inspector. This one’s an action-packed story with quite a few comedic moments, like
Lupin’s message to Cliff, the train chase, ect. The action scenes are well-drawn, especially in the opening scene.
The story itself is OK, but not among the best. 8/10
Notes- C’mon, Zenigata! That kinda stuff happens to you all the time!

Chapter 85–“Lupin’s Song of Chivalry”
Characters- Lupin, the Black Serpent, others
Synopsis- Lupin’s got a pair of high-density polymer handcuffs on, and a guy known as “the Black Serpent”
is playing Lupin’s game.

Chapter 86–“Honor Among Thieves-Part I: Red Hot Air”
Characters- Lupin, Fujiko, the President of Nation H, Goemon, a bodyguard
Synopsis- Lupin’s trying to take his family’s island back from a president who claimed it as his own. And he’s
starting by conferencing with the president on the national balloon.
Firsts-
Links to animated Lupin- According to LEP (see links section on the left, there) this became a 2nd series episode
Review- Hail to the chief! First off, Monkey Punch’s drawings of Lupin jumping from a window to the balloon rank high
on the awesome meter, as does the artwork of the people inside the cabin bouncing around. The former provides a lot of physical
comedy, and Lupin’s comments provide some of the verbal stuff. Overall, a great setup for part 2. 10/10

Chapter 87–“Honor Among Thieves-Part II: Inspector Lupin”
Characters- Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, Goemon, Zenigata, the President
Synopsis- Lupin’s kiddnapped Zenigata, and is using a disguise to get his island back

Review- Part two! Zenigata is an awesome character, sadly, he’s dumbed down often in the anime. Here is a good example
of how competent the Inspector really is. His showdown with Lupin was perfect: executed in typical L3 fashion. The showdown
is also pretty funny, and superbly drawn. The following scenes aren’t as exciting, and the ending is a bit of a deux-ex-machina.
Nevertheless, 9.5/10
